Its length is 77 km and its width varies from 4 to 14 km. The lake surface lies 104 m above sea level and its depth reaches 11 m (average depth 3.2 m).
Since Hungary is landlocked, Lake Balaton is sometimes called the "Hungarian Sea". The Zala River provides the largest amount of water to the lake and canal Sió provides outflow of water when needed.
This place could be one of the greatest local sites to visit while we are in Hungarian territories well maybe if we had the time cause the lake is pretty big.
